Why Does Glutathione Need an Advanced Delivery System?
The digestive system is specifically equipped to break down dietary peptides and proteins. Glutathione is a tripeptide with three amino acids (cysteine, glutamate, and glycine) that are joined by peptide bonds. When conventional glutathione supplements pass through the gastrointestinal tract, digestive enzymes break down the peptides and proteins before your body can absorb them.
This is one reason liposomal glutathione became such an important development. Liposomes are microscopic structures composed of phospholipids, which have both water-attracting and fat-attracting properties. These phospholipids can organize themselves into tiny structures that encapsulate and protect compounds as they move through digestion.
